Rap Sh!t Trailer Previews HBO Max Comedy Series From Issa Rae

HBO Max has dropped the official trailer for Rap Sh!t, the upcoming HBO Max original comedy series which hails from Insecure star Issa Rae.

The Rap Sh!t trailer, which you can check out below, introduces an aspiring female rapper as she tries to start her career by forming a group with her former high school friend. It will be available for streaming on July 21 with the first two episodes, followed by one episode each week, concluding on September 1.

“The comedy follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group,” reads the logline. “Join Shawna and Mia as they try to make it in the rap scene all while staying true to themselves.”

Rap Sh!t stars Aida Osman, real-life artist KaMillion, Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell, and RJ Cyler. It is executive produced by Issa Rae and Montrel McKay (A Black Lady Sketch ShowRoad Trippp) for HOORAE, as well as Jonathan Berry (Insecure) and Dave Becky (Master of NoneRussian Dolls) for 3 Arts Entertainment, along with showrunner Syreeta Singleton, with Rae also writing the pilot.

Hip hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE. Rae’s audio content company Raedio will handle music supervision for the series.
