10 Most Powerful Characters In The MCU, According To Reddit

Given that the main villain of Thor: Love and Thunder is the deicidal Gorr the God Butcher, this film had the opportunity to introduce new gods to the MCU, such as Zeus, Hercules, and Bast. These characters are some of the most powerful beings in the MCU, but they aren’t the only ones.

After almost 30 films, 7 series, and four phases, Marvel Studios has introduced dozens of mighty characters and, of course, fans can’t help to compare them. Recently, Redditor apolloOP-_- brought this debate to the table and other users shared their opinion on which MCU characters are the most powerful.

Thor

The God of Thunder has had a very complicated time in the MCU. He lost his family, his planet, his hammer, and, more recently, his true love. However, none of these tragedies have nerfed his true power. If anything, fans have seen him get mightier and mightier with time.

After fans learned that Thor can imbue others with his power, as Odin the All-Father did before him, it’s impossible not to consider him as one of the most powerful MCU characters. As Redditor ElPercebe69 observed, if Thor can “make an army of thors with children, imagine what he can do with adults.”

Hela

Portrayed by Cate Blanchett, Hela has a short-lived run on the MCU. However, Thor: Ragnarok is more than enough to show how powerful the former leader of Asgard’s armies really is. During one of the most epic scenes in the MCU, Hela thorns Mjolnir to pieces, rendering Thor almost useless for a while.

According to Redditor Tasty_Supermarker_49, Hela is the most powerful character in the MCU because “the only way of getting rid of her was to destroy the planet.” If it hadn’t been for Surtur, who was reborn amidst the battle, Thor wouldn’t have been able to defeat her – especially not without his hammer.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch has always been around when discussing the most powerful Marvel superheroes, but after WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there isn’t a single doubt about the extent of her power. As Redditor ScienceDude23 reminds the fandom by referencing WandaVision, “she can create an entirely new reality, even without the full gauntlet.”

In addition to rewriting reality, Wanda has displayed psionic abilities, magic and energy manipulation, and telepathy. Scarlet Witch is such a powerful being, she wasn’t defeated in battle when she turned into a villain. Instead, she surrendered after realizing the damage she had done.

Strange Supreme

As the multiverse unfolds in the MCU, Doctor Strange and all his variants have been in the middle of the chaos. Strange Supreme, one of the strongest versions of this character, first appeared in What If…? He’s a corrupted Doctor Strange, who ends up tearing reality in an attempt to save Christine Palmer.

According to Redditor edwpad, Strange Supreme “has been absorbing monsters for centuries, ate up a galaxy level explosion like a snack, and put up a good fight against Infinity Ultron. Even Ultron knew he was the main threat.” Although his abilities come at a terrible price, Strange Supreme is a cosmic-level character with skills beyond compare.

Thanos

The big villain of the Infinity Saga, Thanos, has always been regarded as one of the most dangerous villains in Marvel. Granted, this has a lot to do with him possessing the Infinity Stones. However, the Mad Titan is undeniably strong from the beginning, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to get them all.

Redditor damianraven42 commented that “Thanos with his gauntlet won in Infinity War and they still had trouble with him when he didn’t.” The Avengers didn’t defeat Thanos. At least not in the beginning. In fact, the only reason they beat him was that they had the stones too. It took several armies and thousands of individuals to finally bring him down.

Eternity

One of the biggest surprises in Thor: Love and Thunder was the introduction of Eternity, the literal embodiment of the universe in Marvel. This cosmic being is capable of granting one wish without limits, which explains why Gorr is after its power in the film.

As Redditor Sudden_Result commented, Eternity “fought Thanos in The Infinity Gauntlet and held his own despite Thanos having a completed gauntlet.” This means he would be a more significant threat than the Mad Titan if used properly in the MCU. So far, he hasn’t appeared much, but fans are hopeful.

He Who Remains

Originally introduced in Loki, He Who Remains is the creator of the Time Variance Authority. His main objective is to preserve the Sacred Timeline, which he protected from variants of himself by weaponizing Alioth. He Who Remains is the most powerful Kang in the Multiverse, including Kang the Conqueror.

Redditor spokydoky420 described He Who Remains as OP because he “controlled all of Time and made things like the Infinity Stones useless paperweights.” Granted, he was murdered by Sylvie by the end of Loki, but this only happened because he was ready to die. Otherwise, he even knew what was coming his way.

Arishem

Also known as the Judge, Arishem is the Prime Celestial, creator of the first sun and all light in the universe. Millions of years ago, Arishem created the Deviants to help him create other Celestials, but these creatures went rogue, so the Prime Celestial also created the Eternals to battle them.

Redditor AxomHart considers Arishem one of the most powerful beings in the MCU. In addition to creating the Eternals, which are powerful enough on their own, Arishem “can warp across space and time [and] has the power to instantly judge an entire planet.” Arishem is an ancient being for whom life on any planet means very little. His scope truly puts the size of the Marvel Universe in perspective.

Dormammu

Also known as the Destroyer of Worlds, Dormammu is the inter-dimensional entity that rules the Dark Dimension. During Doctor Strange, he attempted to merge his dimension on Earth, but his plans were stopped by Doctor Strange, who trapped him in an endless time loop until he agreed to surrender.

According to Redditor The_Smashor, Dormammu “had to be beaten with outright cheese instead of a direct fight, and he’s absorbed several universes into his Dark Dimension he can manipulate at will.” Dormammu’s abilities are pretty much unstoppable. In order to stop him, Strange tricked him, aware that violence wouldn’t have worked against this entity.

Infinity Ultron

During What If…? Ultron managed to upload his conscience into his synthezoid body, which allowed him to defeat the Avengers. After this, he stole the Infinity Stones from Thanos. This amount of power made him aware of the Multiverse, which he decided to obliterate.

Infinity Ultron is definitely the worst of two worlds. Like Thanos, he’s virtually unstoppable because he controls reality itself, but, additionally, he doesn’t have any empathy for humanity. According to Redditor ilanajoy, with Infinity Ultron, there’s “no appealing to his morals or emotions (like Wanda) or figuring out why he’s so hurt (see Doc Ock, Kingpin, etc), he’s just pure human killing machine,” which makes him super dangerous.
